"Holland - Australia by bicycle?!?" were my only words when we met Rudd and Michele on the side of Lake Bicaz, in Romania, almost five months ago. They were cycling in the opposite direction, on their way to Australia. Rudd, from Holland, and Michele originally from OZ spent their life together in the land of tulips. Now they are retirees and have decided to make their dream come true...
What are the best gravel bikes of 2020? If you are reading this article it is because, most likely, you are deciding to face the big step and buy a gravel bicycle . I will not dwell on what a gravel bike is or why you made this decision because these elements, although worthy of being treated, are not of interest to those like you who have to decide which gravel bike to buy.
Just know that in recent years more and more people have decided to marry this "philosophy" and try an intermediate vehicle between a racing bike and a mountain bike, for traveling or for day trips on the white roads near home. So I decided to do a short (and certainly not exhaustive) research, trying to understand which are the most popular gravel bikes and those that are used with more satisfaction by lovers of dirt roads. Then I recommend the best ten gravel bike models of 2020 .
Modifying a GPS track can be useful for many reasons: merging routes found on the web to define an itinerary you want to travel, creating and viewing altimetry of a specific route, reversing the direction of travel, splitting a trip by bike into multiple stages, creating points of interest or even creating a track from scratch... well, the management possibilities of GPS files (whether GPX, KML or any other useful format) is, nowadays, wide and varied. Often though during my researches on the web I find it hard to find a complete overview of free software to edit the GPS tracks therefore hereafter I grouped some software that I recommend based on my experience.
Easy... because we travelled our whole life and because our life is fueled by travels (by bicycle)! We have seen so many places... that we do not have time to write about them all (and this is a huge problem), but we try to tell you as much as possible, without pretending to be exhaustive or objective: we write what we see and what we do, looking to be sometimes subjective and emotional, sometimes more descriptive and informative. We write because we like sharing information and emotions, because it's nice to find people who have our same passions. What kind of travellers are we?
We are low-cost bicycle travellers: there are no doubts about that! The less we spend, the more we can travel... the more we travel, the more we write about it and share... the more we share, the more we are happy...
It is an equation that finds its closure in your point of view: you are welcome to write us about your experiences, on how you travel by bike spending little...
So what are you waiting for, share your experiences with us.
In addition to being low-cost travellers, we love bicycle tourism and we have been practising it for decades. The perfect trip for us means discovering less known, remote and possibly less frequented places. If we have to get on a flight to stay away from home more than a week, well... do not come and look for us in a tourist village! Nature, adventure, wilderness feed our passion, and we love sharing this to our audience! Cycling is a great passion for us and bicycle trips play a fundamental role in our "curriculum" of travellers: New Zealand, Patagonia, South East Asia, the Andes, the Atlas and Drakensberg, the Balkans, Italy, Corsica... our biggest dream is now called the World by bike!
Explaining why and where Life in Travel was born is easy. In 2007 I left for a year to work in Australia on a Working Holiday: this site wanted to be a travel diary open to the world, mainly to friends and relatives, so that everyone could follow me in my adventures Down Under. Since then, after some highs and lows, I started throwing my biggest passions in the heap: mountain biking, mountains, photography and, above all, trips... today we have thousands of articles, thousands of visitors every day and a great desire to continue travelling and writing! Life in Travel, after years and years of publications, has become THE bicycle touring blog in Italy thanks to the support of many readers... now we'll try to open our world to English-speaking people even if we know that our English is not perfect... but we hope you'll appreciate the content more than the appearance! What will you find on Life in Travel?
On the Italian site there are around 4000 articles and very (very!) slowly - like when bicycle touring - we are starting to translate the most interesting into English, from some itineraries to more technical reviews. These are the main sections of our blog:
