In these ten months of travel we had the good fortune to meet many fellow travelers along our route and spend time with some of them amusing and entertaining. Among them are Gaets and Nadine, two swiss cyclo-traveler who visited more than 20 countries in two years, meeting each other on the way...

  1. Who are you?

    Gaetan Michel from Switzerland (Fribourg)

Nadine Rosenast from Switzerland ( St. Gallen)

  2. What did you do last months?

I left my home in Fribourg at the end of august 2009 and cycled accross Asia until Calcutta in about 18 months, from where i took the ferry to andamans islands. After 1 month i flew for a short stopover in singapore to visit a friend in malaysia, then cycled from Perth up to Darwin, flew to Timor Leste and back to Bali through Nusa Tenggara. I was not cycling all the way everywhere of course! I met my girlfriend in Dushanbe in Tajikistan, so since May 2010 we are together in couple :-)

I started my cycling trip in March 2009 in Switzerland and cycled down the Balcan coast to Greece, Turkey. Then until end 2009 down to Egypt. After a two months break, wich I spent trekking in Nepal I flew to Dushanbe in Tajikistan. There I fall in love with Gaets, another Swiss cycler. We continued pedaling together through Central Asia, Pakistan, India, Nepal and Bangladesh. Via Singapore, Malaysia and Kambodia we reached Perth in Australia, where we cycled up the west coast until Darwin. From Timor Leste to Bali, Indonesia we did not cycle too much.

  3. Which country was the most intresting?

I liked Iran Turkey and Kurdish part of Irak for the people and their hoispitality.
Tadjikistan and Ladkh, north pakistan and nepal were amazing for the landscapes.
    India has an amazing food!
Everywhere has lot of interest if u are inteersted!

The most shocking and interesting was the extremely busy Bangladesh. People were often so astonished to see us, that they couldn`t close their mouths anymore. If we stopped anywhere on the road it took only 2 minutes until we were in a crowd of peoples staring at us. But I liked more cycling in Tadjik, Pakistan or Ladakh, where the landscape is just wonderful and people not so much interested in us.

  4. A little strange fact!

To be on honeymoon in pAKistan with my girlfriend, it s what we said to local people as it is better to say that we are maried , so we were freshly married :-)

When I met Gaets, he had about 45 kilos luggage on his bike, me only 30, as I was so scared that I wouldnt be strong enough for more weight. Since we are cycling together, he dumped more than 10 kilos of his luggage. He is getting crazy with my regular advices of getting lighter and lighter.

  5. Plans for the future?

Going to south america in august 2011 for the last part of the journey...home will be another long journey!

South America and waiting for the diamond ring .. mentionned it already many times

Thanks and see you soon
