From Auckland to Christchurch, from north to south, from warm to cold, from sea to the mountains and back to sea. The items that you will find in these pages were written during the two months spent cycling along the hilly roads of the two main islands of New Zealand. A sublime, four thousand three hundred kilometers, approximately forty-five thousand meters in altitude but above all an endless series of landscapes crossed and meetings. The highlights of these two months are numerous: Rotorua and its thermal areas, the lake Waikaremoana, the Tongariro crossing and mount Taranaki on the north, the Marlborough sounds, Abel Tasman N.P., the West coast, the Fiordland N.P. The Catlins coast, the Central Otago rail trail and the Aoraki / Mt. Cook N.P. in the south. With many other national parks and charming towns crossed. All dressed by friends on two wheels: Kristina, Angelique and Didier, Kazoumi, Elizabeth, John and many others.
In addition to some extracts of my travel diary, in the section Stage by stage you will find a summary of each day with distance, high rise and what to see. Finally, a detailed map of the route followed with brief description of the stages and places to stop. Click below to read more:
