Chaotic, frenetic, polluted, but also lively, cheerful, historical, impressive. This is the "eternal city", Rome. Every time i return, I am ashamed for the richness and density of historical and symbolic places that it encloses. The Altare della patria, San Pietro, the Fori Imperiali and the Coliseum ... everyone a symbol of all ages and different powers. The Fountain of Trevi, Villa Borghese, Piazza Navona, Piazza di Spagna ... this city is "magic", as the fans sing to their Football team (well, perhaps they refer to another Rome, but it doesn't matter)! And then the Romans: insane, forced, intrusive, sometimes idlers but still nice, funny, entertaining, enterprising. A visit to Rome is tantamount to a step back in time 2,000 years but also deep immersion in the heart of Christian faith as well as at the center of Italian political life. Rome is a bit like the Mecca for Muslims, a time in life you must go there!
Rome
"Our" capital is one of the most beautiful cities of art in Europe. My visits to the city are more than one and for this I must thank in particular friends Carlo and Matteo who have hosted me several times. The beauty of Rome are related to different historical periods: from the monuments survived so far as the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the holes, the Circus Maximus ... Christian churches like St. Peter, St. Pancrazio, S. Paul Outside the Walls ... through the Renaissance and Baroque Rome Castel S. Angelo, Piazza Navona, Piazza di Spagna and the Trevi Fountain. All of this concentrated in a city that is also the headquarters of the Italian Government, and enclose within its urban area an entire state as the Vatican City. If this were not enough, Roma also has a wide choice for the night: the characteristic locals in Trastevere (what a good eating and drinking in those taverns!) to modern nightclubs in the neighborhood of Testaccio.
